Great news for Pennsylvania NPs! Please reach out to your Reps!

Dear Pennsylvania AANP member,
Great news! Senate Bill 25 was passed by the Pennsylvania Senate on June 12 with a vote of 46-6. The bill will now head to the House for consideration. As the bill heads to the House, additional support may be needed to move the bill into law.
This bill would allow NPs who have completed three years and 3,600 hours of practice as a professional nurse in collaboration with a physician to practice independently.
Senate Bill 25 will:

  • Make it easier for patients to access NP-provided care
  • Retire outdated laws that prevent streamlined care delivery
  • Not change the scope of practice, but will make it easier for NPs to provide care

AANP members can track the progress of this bill at AANP's State Legislation Tracking Center or lend their voice to the efforts by visiting the AANP Advocacy Center to look up your legislator. AANP will continue to monitor bills relevant to NP practice as they move through the legislative process.

Thank you,
